"I want to do this not for myself, fame, or fans, but really for the love of music, community, and relationships. It begins with what's been burning in my soul for a long time, and I'm happy to be doing it with some incredible friends now.”
-Austin Livingood, Lead Vocals, Guitar
Austin Livingood and The Soul Revival was birthed officially on February 1st, 2015, but the group has been playing together for a couple years under Livingood as a solo artist. Releasing his debut EP's, "By Plane(I)" in late 2013 and "By Train(II)" in early 2014 and he received two nominations for the Cincinnati Entertainment Awards as "Best Singer/Songwriter" and "Best New Artist." Gaining notoriety from local press such as City Beat Magazine, who stated,
"...the spotlight has illuminated a 22-year-old songwriter and performer of improbable depth and diversity. Livingood is a shiver-inducing hybrid of The Cure’s Robert Smith, XTC’s Andy Partridge and Jeff Buckley, bubbling with contemporary Indie Rock energy and rootsy Midwestern soulfulness. The combination sounds neither forced nor overthought," for Livingood, it still didn't feel complete unless his friends/band were fully involved.
Now the newly fitted Folk/Alternative/Rock group aims to unite Livingood’s established style with Worship music. Currently working on a new a LP (name not yet released), the group plans to unite the overall theme of upcoming records with both original secular and worship songs. "These are our roots," states Livingood," and if we aren't expressing what we've all been living for so many years, well we might as well just find another career."
For the songwriter and fellow band mates, this is a longtime vision come true. The band of five consist of Austin Livingood (Lead Vocals, Guitar), Dan Cress (Bass), Colton Williams (Guitar), Tyler Shepard (Keys), and Phillip Moore (Drums).
